Cornish Bowls Weekend 2016

On Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April 2016, Bowls Clubs across Cornwall in partnership with the Cornwall Sports Partnership and The Cornwall Bowls Alliance are offering free sessions for anyone to turn up whatever their age and have a go.

Tim Marrion bowls lead from the Cornwall Sports Partnership commented “Didn’t think bowls was for you? Well the open weekend is such a great opportunity for anyone whatever your ability to give bowls a go by themselves or with their family. We have 17 clubs taking part from all over Cornwall and there is no reason why you can’t just pitch up and join in. Each club will welcome you, have equipment for you to borrow and will show you the ropes to ensure you have plenty of fun and meet new people.”

The sessions will include local coaches giving free tips and advice on the game of Bowls and with equipment provided, all you need to do is go along and have a go!

This is a great opportunity to get the whole family involved in a fun game of Bowls!

On Sunday 24th April 2016 (from 1pm), Mark Read and David Cutler will go head to head in a Challenge Match as part of The Great British ‘Cornish’ Bowls Weekend 2016.

Taking place at St Stephen in Brannel Bowling Club, visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the players about their experiences and also give it a go themselves.

This all forms part of The Great British ‘Cornish’ Bowls Weekend, where clubs across Cornwall will be opening their doors to their local community for anyone of any age and ability to turn up and have a go at this wonderful sport FREE OF CHARGE!

Never tried bowls? This is the time to find out what it’s all about!
