Steve Cook, a blind bowler, who is a member of Saltash Bowling Club and the Plymouth Visually Impaired Bowls Club has been national champion for the past two years.
Steve is hoping to beat the world’s best bowlers at the Blind Bowls World Championship in Worthing, West Sussex and has been given a cash boost in his campaign to become world champion.
Nigel Rowe of the Plymouth Sports Forum presented a cheque for £200 to Mr. Cook at the Plymouth Life Centre. The cash is from The Herald’s Making a Sporting Difference fund, with cash raised through the raffle at the annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
Mr. Rowe said “Steve has done remarkably well to reach the world championships and has inspired a lot of people.
